2030 forecast: Production up by + 3.3% and exports to 3 million tonnes for mangoes

According to the Agricultural Outlook 2021-2030 report, the tropical fruit group comprising mangoes, mangosteen and guavas is considered to be the 2nd fastest growing tropical fruit group.
With global exports estimated at 2.3 million tonnes in 2020, the tropical fruit group comprising mangoes, mangosteen and guavas has grown rapidly. Mainly due to favorable production conditions in Brazil and Peru which allowed a large supply, which facilitated the growth of exports.
Production
By 2030, the world production of mangoes, mangosteen and guavas is expected to reach 84 million tonnes, growing at 3.3% per year. Asia, the region of origin of mangoes and mangosteen, is expected to account for 75% of world production in 2030.
In India, the world's leading producer and consumer of mangoes, production is expected to reach 43 million tonnes in 2030, or 51% of global production. But much of India's production is destined for informal local markets.
Exports
World exports of mangoes, mangosteen and guavas are expected to reach nearly 3 million tonnes in 2030, compared to 2.1 million tonnes currently.
Mexico, the world's leading supplier of mangoes, is expected to benefit from further growth in demand from its main market, the United States, and register an annual growth of 4% in its exports, to reach a share of 22% of world exports in 2030. Thailand and Brazil, 2nd and 3rd exporters, are expected to have market shares of around 12% in 2030 and they will be joined by growing exports from Peru.
The Agricultural Outlook 2021-2030 report was produced through collaboration between the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
