Agrexco proposes 7 or 8 varieties of green avocados
Agrexco, who exports Israel's avocados had an increase of 12 % of its turnover in 2009.
Agrexco is exporting its fruit on Carmel brand for a volume of 390000 tons and a turnover of 492 million of euros last year.
With 22000 tons of exports in 2009, avocados are leaders of the exportations and should reach 36000 tons this year (increase of 50 %).
Shlomo Tirosh, Chief Executive of Agrexco, declared that 90 % of the world trade of avocado is the variety of Haas, which has a black skin.
Israel is the world leader of the green avocados, the one which remain green even when they mature.
"We export 7 or 8 different varieties from green avocados, compared with the other countries which export only 1 or 2 varieties."
