Apples prices will most likely double before the end of the year, according to Russian professionals.
The embargo has prohibited access to the Russian market apples in Poland which accounted for 40 % of imported apples.
This depletion of supply will cause price inflation. An official of ROA (Russian Orchard Association), Igor Mukhanin , expects prices will rise from 30 to 40 rubles ( 0.57 to 0.76 euro ) to probably 60 rubles ( 1.14 euros ) for one kilo of apples by the beginning of next year.
This price increase should start to operate next month, imports from Poland usually beginning in November -December.
