Ebola threatens the agricultural production
FJ
The FAO, the United Nations Food and Agriculture committee warns of hidden Ebola.
The epidemic is to eradicate the economic progress made in Liberia for several years and threatens the livelihoods of many people in the country. If the affected communities do not receive immediate assistance, including the transfer of money to buy the seeds in the coming weeks , the consequences for agricultural production in 2015 could be disastrous.
The disease spreads rapidly, the causes of the disease are not well understood, and wild rumors circulating about the origin of the disease ( water, food ... ) is causing panic and often abandonment of fields for weeks.
For FAO Liberia, the priority is to save the household food security at the local level . The FAO approach combines the social , technical and financial dimensions to increase the resilience of communities.
