Reconstruction of the Johannesburg Fresh Produce Market
South Africa
Wednesday 09 July 2008
To be able to answer to the ever growing demand of export from South Africa, the Johannesburg Fresh Produce Market has decided to entirely reconstruct a state-of-the-art wholesale market. The Johannesburg Fresh Produce Market has opened its doors in 1974 on a 63 acre property. It now contains 74 stores, 55 cold rooms, and 50 banana ripening rooms. As the largest wholesale market in South Africa, the Johannesburg Fresh Produce Market welcomes buyers from the entire country as well as buyers from Zimbabwe, Namibia, Swaziland, Mozambique and Bostwana. It can hold up to
4 651 pallets of fresh produce and 1 590 pallets of ripening bananas, which make it possible for the market to have an average of 20 000 sales daily. For more information, visit www.jfpm.co.za, or contact Mr. Thomas Mawasha at +27 (0)11 613 2049.
