The aromatic herbs in full boom

The agricultural sector seems to have found a new lode for its exports: aromatic herbs.

Demand is constantly growing and these herbs are able to grow where other plants are unable to grow, especially in semi-arid and mountainous regions.

Kenya offers the ideal conditions for producing these herbs, and the potential of the country is immense. In the 1980s, the Indian food industry came to Kenya to get supplies but the request did not last beyond 1990. The production is still small but is increasing significantly.

Especially chives, plant hardy, easy to grow, resistant to drought. Other herbs may also develop in severe conditions (thyme, sage, rosemary) and a minimum of rain. Europe has significantly increased its demand for aromatic herbs, used in cooking but also in natural medicine and aromatherapy.
