Global tangerine/mandarin production is forecast in 2009 at 19.7 million tons, up 1.5 million tons, virtually all accounted for by China.
However, trade is expected to remain steady as lower Chinese exports are offset by Morocco and Turkey.
Chinese exports are expected to drop 40 percent due to a fruit fly outbreak in Sichuan Province and reduced demand.
Russian and EU imports, which account for over 50 percent of global demand, are expected to decline slightly because of the economic crisis.
U.S. production is forecast to be the highest on record as more no bearing acres continue to come into production in California. Rising domestic demand is expected to constrain exportable supplies.
