Province Leon - The Centre of Beet Production in Spain

Province Leon will concentrate in campaign 2009-2010 around one third part of the national production of beet, with about 1.2 million tons, according to the forecasts of the agricultural technical director of Ebro Sugar bowl, Diego Valle. This person in charge of the sugar company subscribed last week an agreement with the Secretary General of León Farmers and Cattles Trade Union, Matías Llorente, by virtue of which Cooperative of Commercial Union of Farmers of Leon, assigned to this agrarian organization, will provide to the next year 300,000 tons of beet to the sugar bowl of the Bañeza (Leon province).
