Unio notices the increase in value of Valencia citrus fruits

+ 12 % for 5 years, + 22 % for 10 years: value of Valencia citrus fruits exports is always in increase.
Unio, agricultural professional organization of Valencia region farmers noticed that the turnover in export increased.
Value of Valencia citrus fruits exports increased by 3 % in 2009 compared to 2008 passing from 1.822 million euro in 2008 to 1.876 millions in 2009.
During the last 5 years, the economic value of Valencia citrus fruits exports increased by 12 %, by 22 % in the last 10 years and 44 % in the last 15 years. In 1995, the total value of citrus fruits exports was 1.298 million euro, in 2000 and 1.539 million euro in 2005.
This increase contrasts with the decline of prices received by producers. According to the study of Unio, prices of Clemenules and Navelina knew a decline of 23 % and 14 % respectively in the last fifteen years.
Data on exports of citrus fruits for 2009 show that 91,7 % of exports are to the European Union. France and Germany represent 45,5 %, the figure amounts to 70 % with the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Italy, The strongest increases of exports in 2009 took place in Italy (42 %), Norway (17 %), Austria (13 %) and Switzerland (12 %).
