Onion prices markedly upward

In Russia onion prices have risen, averaging 30%, reaching their highest level in 5 years.

 

 

 

In recent days the prices of onion have increased rapidly. Russian media claim that onion prices are now 3 times higher than at the beginning of May 2018, reaching a record level.

 

 

 

According to various analysts, this rise in prices can be explained by weak domestic production in the face of strong demand in the domestic market. Professionals in the sector want to increase imports from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
