Colombian avocado sector establishes objectives for the upcoming campaign

The objective for 2022 is to maintain the presence of the fruit in the new markets achieved in the last 4 years: Chile, Argentina, Peru, United States, Japan, China, South Korea.

The Colombian avocado sector expects to finish 2021 with exports for $210 million, according to Jorge Restrepo, director of the corporation of Producers and Exporters of Hass Avocado of Colombia, Corpohass.

 

The objective for 2022 is to maintain the presence of the fruit in the new markets achieved in the last 4 years: Chile, Argentina, Peru, United States, Japan, China, South Korea. In addition, it is expected to reduce dependence on their sales in Europe.

 

Above all, it is projected to achieve a seal of origin of the fruit. As the director explained, the seal itself will allow Colombia to take advantage of the fruit's production throughout the year.

 

According to Restrepo, at present, its largest market is the Netherlands, which receives 53% of its exports. The other important destinations are the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Argentina, the United States, Costa Rica and Russia.
