The consumption of organic products continues to increase
FJ
A study of the FSO ( Federal Statistical Office ) confirm the continued upward trend for the consumption of organic products.
Expenditures for organic products in the budget of Swiss households represented 6.5 % of total food expenditures. Just over five years later, these expenditures for organic products reached 8%. Over the same period , the share of organic vegetables increased from 9-14 %, the organic fruits of 9 to 11%.
Several reports in this study : women are more likely to buy "organic" than men; consumption of organic products increases with income ; it's the 45/54 years age group that buys the least. Finally, the locale is not trivial : a household of German-speaking Swiss generally buy more organic products than a household in western Switzerland.
