The Fukushima agricultural sector tries to recover
FJ
Since the March 11 disasters (earthquake, tsunami, nuclear accident) the same name Fukushima is still synonymous with the problems of nuclear power plant.
The agricultural sector was the reputation of the region for the quality of its products and is now trying to recover.Thousands of delegates from around the world gathered there a few days ago for a conference organized by the UN on reducing disaster risks.
The local authorities have used the conference to present to delegates the efforts to revitalize the area.
Delegates visited greenhouses where are grown strawberries and vegetables. They also visited the Centre that control and tests all local produce. The local government said the Japanese safety standards are 10 times stricter for cesium levels as the United States and Europe.
Multiple checks help ensure that products are safe and free from radioactive elements.
