Good beginning season for Indian professionals.
Apple is the main agricultural production of Himachal Pradesh, Northwest of India.
Production had decreased of 280.000 tons last year because of a dry monsoon and a winter without snow.
A bumper crop is announced this year; Agriculture Department considers that production will exceed the 2008-09 production of 510.000 tons.
Apples harvests have 15 in 20 days beforehand. The first varieties, Red Gold, Red June and Tydeman’s Early Worcester are harvested and professionals consider that the season begins well, because of a strong demand everywhere in the country.
After the premature varieties, Red Chief, Great Chief and Royal Delicious harvest is going to begin.
In Himachal Pradesh, apple culture increased from 400 hectares in 1950 to 97.438 hectares in 2009.
