Very positive trend for Italian exports

Italian exports increased both in volume and value.
The year 2014 started good for Italian exports of fruits & vegetables. Data for the first 2 months of 2014 show an increase both in volume (+10.9%) and value (+5.2%) compared to 2013 data.
Italy has exported about 682,000 tons of fruits & vegetables for a value of € 730 million. With +12.2% for vegetables, +12.5% for fresh fruit and +11.6% for dried fruits. Values are positive ??for all the sectors, except citrus who underwent a decrease of -9.6%.
Over the same period the imports of fruits and vegetables decreaseed by -3.1% to 510,000 tons for a value of € 453 million. With a decline of -3.7% in the volume of vegetables, -32.4% of citrus and -8.1% of fresh fruits. Only dry fruits increased by +45.5% and tropical fruits +6.9% .
