Russia has become an important market for Spanish fruit and vegetables

In recent years, the Russian market has significantly increased its demand to become an important market for Spanish fruit and vegetables.
Thus, between 2009 and 2010, Spanish exports to Russia increased by 39% by volume with a total of 165,136 tons and an increase of 70% in value for a total of € 134.6 million.
Of the 141,259 tons of fruits exported to Russia, peaches have increased their shipments by 91%, 57% for nectarines and 35% for mandarins .
Regarding vegetables, cucumber is up 25% (4,949 tons) and lettuce 28% (3,644 tons).
The main destination of Spanish exports remains the European Union with 94% of the total. But Russia increased in volumes from 121,956 tons in 2006 to 165,136 tons in 2010 and in value from 72.5 to 134.6 million € over the 4 years.
