Argentina fig season started this week

With a shipment to France, Argentina started their figs season. The Brown turkey variety has proved to be a nice product for European taste. This is the 5th year of continued growth in shipments from Argentina. Production is located in the northern part of Argentina in the Jujuy province. Orchards have been planted in 1999, and in 2001 the first 12 pallets were exported to France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Now, this quantity grew to 200 pallets, about 50.000 boxes, and new destinations have been added: Switzerland, Italy, Spain and the UK.
