Wal- Mart attracting more affluent consumers

Figures taken in February this year show that Wal-Mart has enjoyed a 17% increase in new customers, in addition to its existing customer-base.
New customers also spent an average of 40% more than existing consumers, revealing that the chain is attracting an increasing number of high-earners.
Apparently, 55% of the group's customer-base earns in excess of 47,000 eur per annum.
Wal-Mart has also recently opened its first hispanic store - "Supermercado de Wal-Mart" - in Houston, Texas.
