The COVID-19 epidemic in China has led to a decrease in imports, especially almonds from California. These volumes which have not been exported, risk lowering the price of almonds on the American market.
China is the second largest buyer of Californian almonds, since the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic, Chinese imports have slowed. This will lead to unusually high stocks for American producers, and cause a drop in the price of California almonds.
If exports to China have slowed, American professionals are still able to export almonds to India, the No.1 customer. Last January, the United States exported $60 million of almonds to India and $13 million to China, according to data from the USDA.
