The price of Mexican avocado continues to rise. In some points of sale in Mexico, such as the Lázaro Cárdenas market in the Valle neighborhood (Mexico City), this fruit already exceeds 150 pesos per kilo ($7.45), according to local media.
According to the Federal Consumer Protection Office (Profeco), today, avocados are sold for more than 100 pesos (almost $5) in some areas of the greater Valley of Mexico.
In Michoacán, avocados have an average price of 60 pesos ($2.97).
It should be noted that in 2021, the fruit was sold for approximately 44.31 pesos per kilo ($2.20), so in 2022 it represents an increase of 127%, according to data from the Agrifood and Fisheries Information Service (SIAP).
