Fujian leads mushroom exports

Exports of mushrooms have grown strongly with the region of Fujian and the port of Fuzhou becaming the leader of Chinese exports.
Located in southern China, the region of Fujian has become a leader in mushrooms exports.
The port of Fuzhou announced that exports of mushrooms were more than $100 million during the past 11 months. In late November the port of Fuzhou exported 6,510 tons of mushrooms, valued at $118.1 million. The volume was up 22.1%, with value up 27.4% over the previous year.
Exports of mushrooms are
growing steadily. According to port authorities, Fuzhou has exported 3,676 tons in 2008 valued at $35.9 million; 4,451 tons in 2009 at $56.8 million and 6,121 tons in 2010 at $96.4 million .
Fuzhou, the capital of the region, is the largest city closest to Taipei which it is separated by the Strait of Formosa. A major port, Fuzhou exports many agricultural products and specializes in vegetable crops.
