Good start of the 2019-20 season for citrus exports to Turkey. In a few weeks the country exported 132,941 metric tons of citrus fruit. Lemon, tangerine and grapefruit were the 3 most exported products.
According to data from DKIB, the Eastern Black Sea exporters' association, from 1 September to 15 October, citrus fruit exports totaled 132 941 tonnes with a turnover of $64.3 million. The top 3 citrus fruits exported in this period were lemon, mandarin and grapefruit.
Lemon shipments reached 64,637 tonnes worth $36.6 million, tangerine shipments reached $21.4 million and grapefruit shipments totalled $5.8 million.
These citrus fruits began to be exported as of September 1, 2019. According to Turkish professionals, the volume of production will increase and exports will increase. The Russian market is still a major market and the total volume exported will be similar to previous years.
