The early production of the Huelva region ensures good profitability in the market, without competition from other European countries.
Huelva is the No. 1 region for blueberries. Huelva is the province with the highest production of blueberries in Spain and the largest production area in Europe for early spring harvests.
Farmers and technicians met at the IV Jornadas Tecnicas del Cultivo del Arandano in the province of Huelva. The aim was to provide technical information and to promote this culture which has experienced a vertiginous growth. From 2013 to 2017, the area of blueberries grown in the province of Huelva increased by almost 33%.
For the 2017/18 season, the areas are estimated at around 3,000 hectares, ie 12.5% more than for the previous season. For the current season, the first varieties are harvested at this time and late varieties may be delayed. The quality is considered excellent.
