Miatech proposes ozone-free and low maintenance costs for Asian cold storage facilities
CD | Miatech Inc.
Miatech is an American company based In Portland, Oregon. The company provides different types of perishable control solutions for retail and post harvest businesses.
In Asia Fruit Logistica, the company presented a unique technology, patented in 2013, for cold rooms and storage facilities. This technology called Bio Turbo is designed to remove ethylene and airborne pathogens from the air.
Met in Hong-Kong, Mr Oleg Kuts, Marketing Manager of Miatech pointed out:
“The main strength of this technology is that it does not work with any chemicals at all. Bio Turbo uses patented four-stage cleaning technologies.
“Ozone removes ethylene, but 100% of it stays inside the ozone chamber. Ozone is never in the facilities and this makes our technology very unique. Ozone is recognized to be harmful to workers. Our technology provides a very safe environment for workers.”
“Another strength is that our maintenance costs are very low. With Bio Turbo, the maintenance will have to be done only once a year. This concerns air filters and generator plates replacement and results in significant savings for our customers in the long run.”
Apart from this use, another design of Bio Turbo has been developed offering the same technology for transportation.
Miatech has been an exhibitor at Asia Fruit Logistica for 4 years and has observed the market changes.
Kuts adds:
“Asian markets are developing very quickly. As you know, the main problem in India in this field is the lack of logistics for fresh produce. This should change in the near future as the Indian government distributes more subsidies to develop logistics and cold stores in key areas. So, we expecting a rapid development in the coming years in this area”
