A cold and drought spell failed on the north of Italy jeopardizing the fruit and vegetables production. Open field market gardening seems to be the most affected : a 50% drop has been recorded for salads, cabbages and artichokes. As a consequence, prices escalated and damages for growers are currently up to Euro 250 million.
