Italian agriculture confirms its dynamism

On the occasion of a meeting organized at the EXPO 2015, Coldiretti, the main organization of farmers, highlighted the success of Italian agriculture.

Italy is the only country, according to Coldiretti, which can boast to offer 271 products with a designation of origin (PDO / PGI), higher than all its competitors. With 43,852 organic businesses (17% of the EU total) Italy is the No. 1 industry in Europe, followed by Spain (30 462 companies or 12%) and Poland (25 944, ie 10 %).

Italy is also leading the ranking in terms of food security with the smallest number of food products containing chemical residues irregularities (0.2%), almost 10 times less than the EU average (1, 9%) and more than 30 times less than the non-EU products (6.3%).The renewal in agriculture, where 1 in 3 companies was born in the last decade has also led to an unparalleled dynamism in production and in processing.
