MD
Due to poor weather conditions, mango production is expected to decline in many regions and for many variety.
The Alphansos variety, the most famous in export and the most popular in India, is expected to decline by 80% of its production according to professionals. Other varieties in other regions will see similar reductions. It is estimated that in Uttar Prdesh, the production of varieties Dussehra, Langda and Chausa will decrease by 73%.
This decline in production leads to higher export prices. The increase noted is already 30% over last year according to Export Development Authority (APEDA). Professionals were concerned about the price that would discourage exports.
Exports to Gulf countries, the United Kingdom, Canada and the countries of East Asia have already fallen by 60-70%.
