Fruit and vegetable imports from Spain continue to rise

Spain's fresh fruit and vegetable exports from January to November 2023 reached 10.1 million tons, experiencing a 6% decrease compared to the same period last year. In contrast, imports increased by 8%, reaching 3.7 million tons, according to statistics from the Customs and Excise Department, published by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism.
Analyzing the horticultural foreign trade in terms of volume, it is observed that the export of vegetables between January and November 2023 decreased by 3%, totaling 4.6 million tons compared to the same period of 2022. On the other hand, fruit exports experienced an 8% reduction, standing at 5.5 million tons.
In contrast, vegetable imports during the same period increased by 4%, reaching a total of 1.7 million tons, while fruit imports increased by 11%, reaching 2 million tons.
In terms of value, fruit and vegetable exports experienced a 6% growth, reaching 15,043 million euros. In contrast, imports experienced a more significant growth, with an increase of 19%, totaling 4,060 million euros.
