The UK company Total Produce, European leader for fruit and vegetable distribution present in 13 European Countries with 120 product lines, has reached an agreement with the Dutch The Greenery. The contract - the news agency Apcom reports - will be finally signed at the end of this month and regards the transfer to Total Produce of the wholesale assets of The Greenery UK of Manchester, Glasgow, Gateshead, Bristol and Birmingham. These five structures’ turnover is around 29 million pounds (41,6 million euros).
The Greenery receives in exchange access to the distribution network controlled by the British company in the UK. In the first six months of 2007, Total Produce obtained incomes for 1.22 billion value (+33% compared to the same period of the previous year) and an operative gross margin of 29.8 millions (+13.9%).
The agreement represents for Total Produce the fourth expansion operation in 2007: in January the group acquired the English Redbridge Holdings Ltd for 23 millions; in February an accord was sealed with the Indian group Tata, creating a joint-venture for the construction of fruit and vegetables distribution structures in the peninsula, while in July the UK company acquired the Irish Wholefood Wholesale Ltd.
