Strawberry season prolonged

Strawberry of Huelva plays prolongations.

The producers decided to extend the season, the strawberry of Huelva will be available in June. With the risk of confronting the local production in France, in Italy, in the Netherlands and in Belgium.

This decision seems an attempt to save a season, qualified as "nefasta" (disastrous) by officials of Freshuelva association.

A late winter and a rainy spring have resulted in a loss of 25% of the production. Then, the European consumption decreased, particularly in Germany, the first customer of the Spanish strawberries with 1/3 of purchases less. Latest setback, prices are about 20% below the average of the last season.
