France
Thursday 15 March 2007

The Radio Frequency Identification (RFI) is a new technology which allows small chips introduced in different things to pass on information, by wave radio, to sensors at distance, instead of bar codes. The RFI meets perfectly requirements of traceability, fight against forgery and management of the hazards by allowing the follow-up of the product throughout the logistic chain. This technology also allows the follow-up of the finished product in the hands of the final consumer. 600 million labels were sold in the world in 2005, and according to a temporary study, 1.3 billion RFI would have been sold in 2006.
