Worries about apple prices
Italy
Monday 02 January 2006
An increase in production coupled with large quantities of stocks has led to worries about apple prices on the Italian market.
The CSO estimates that Italy's 2005 apple production will increase by 5.4 percent compared to 2004.
With large stocks of both domestic and imported apples left unsold from the previous campaign, there is some concern that the market will be unable to absorb the increased quantity without large price reductions.
