A publication by Agreste Conjoncture, an agency of the French Ministry of Agriculture, announces that cherry production in France, based on data as at 1 June 2024, is estimated at 37,000 tonnes, including 28,600 tonnes of table cherries and 8,400 tonnes of industrial cherries.
This represents an increase of 10% on 2023 and 21% on the average harvest from 2019 to 2023.
Despite the damage caused by bad weather in May, which halted harvesting of early varieties, production is expected to rise in the main producing regions: Occitanie (+12%), Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (+10%), Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (+9%).
