Crop of oranges will be the most low since seven years, after violent rains which damaged the bloom.
Brazil, biggest producer of oranges to the world, expects the smallest crop of oranges since 7 years.
The producers began the harvest last week, but excessive rains during the last two months caused damages.
“Rains practically killed the entire first flowering, so trees produced less fruit than expected" indicated Carlos Viacava, administrator of the company Sucocitrico Cutrale Ltda, biggest world producer of orange juice.
Production of last year was 305 million boxes. Every box weighs 90 pounds, or 40,8 kilos.
Producers of oranges will harvest 286 million boxes, the lowest output since 2003, in the states of Sao Paulo, part of Minas Gerais and Parana, Viacava.
