Citrus production will increase by 7%

Tunisia plans to increase its total citrus production but a decrease for "Maltese" variety oranges.

In Tunisia, the Ministry of Agriculture expects an increase of citrus production.

For the 2013-14 season, citrus production will reach 355,000 tons, an increase of 7% compared to last season, according to forecasts of the Ministry.

This increase must come from increased production of lemons (+32%), clementines (+ 22%), and tangerines (+10%). Regarding oranges, Valencia variety will experience an increase by 13% while the "Maltese" variety could decline by -7%. For exports, it is expected in 2014, to export 20,000 tons of the "Maltese" variety.
