Rising demand for the products of Petit Producteur

The issue of horse meat pushes consumers to ask questions about the origin of products and promotes initiatives such as Petit Producteur.
"Le Petit Producteur" is a group of 450 producers who sign their products. Grower's identification card with name, photo, place of collection of each basket of fruit and vegetables. Started four years ago with producers in Vaucluse and Britain, "Le Petit Producteur" now sells dozens of products.
As for strawberries, last year, "Le Petit Producteur" has sold 320 tonnes grown in open field. This year, demand was up even before the season, with 1,000 tons ordered by the end of February.
Sales grew by 50% per year for three years now, and in 2012 by 70%. This trend, which restores consumers' confidence, is also of interest abroad. Visitors from Germany, Scandinavia and Japan came to study on the spot the possible developments of the idea in their own countries.
