The Union of Exporters 2012 noted a decrease of 6% ??of total exports and 13% of citrus exports.
Exports of fruits and vegetables in Turkey (including citrus fruit and tea) decreased by approximately 6% compared to 2011 (January-December) to reach 3,000,000 tons.
This decrease is mainly due to lower exports of citrus fruits, which were down 13% from almost 1.5 million tons to just under 1.3 million tons. Exports of fruit and vegetables are similar to the previous year .
The top 10 export products are (in descending order): tomatoes, mandarins, lemons,
oranges, grapes, cherries, grapefruit, peppers, pomegranates and cucumbers. Apricots, in 11th position, almost doubled in exports.
There was no significant change in the exporting countries, mainly Russia, Iraq, Germany, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Apart from exports to Iraq, which rose 9%, there was a decline in exports of other countries, especially Bulgaria, Romania and Saudi Arabia by about 25%.
