Negative temperatures impact for the production of dates

A real blow to the economy of the region in which the dates are the flagship product.

Last September and October , during the maturation dates, scorching temperatures have ruled the region oases of Ghardaia , causing a negative impact on production.

 

"All the dates were scalded and dehydrated, which greatly changed the shape, color , flavor and texture of the fruit , including dates for fragile skin soft and vulnerable to climate fluctuations like varieties Deglet Nour , Bent Kballa and ghers "explained Directorate Agricultural Services in the region.

 

The Ghardaia region is considered among the major producing regions of dates in the country, with nearly 11 000 hectares, 1.3 million palm trees which 524,000 for the single variety "Deglet Nour ", the most popular variety.
