Import of fruit and vegetables augmented in Spain till March 2007

Imports of fruit in Spain augmented strongly till March this year comparing with the same period of time last year.
21% in volume and 30% in value of imported fruit - summing up 148.532 tons and value of 119 million eur. Apples are the fruits the most often imported in this period of time with 20.333 tons and value 23,8 million eur, what means increase 26% and 53% respectively. Next in rank of imported fruit is banana with 22.104 tons, pineapple with 19.925 tons and increase in import 45% and kiwi with 17.777 tons and rise in import 26%.
Average prices of imported fruit and vegetables increased 22%. In case of imported fruit prices augmented 6,5% and as refers to vegetables average prices of imported stuff increased 37%.
