The onion crisis continues

Galloping inflation (+320% over the last 12 months) for the price of onions.
In India, the retail price of onions reaches at the top, now costing more than 100 rupees (1.62 US$) per kilo. This price is equal to the amount available per day for one-third of the country's population.
Given this situation, the authorities seek to import onions to calm the inflation. The country turned to China, the largest regional rival, and began to import (via Afghanistan) Chinese onions. India plans to provide even in Iran, despite the economic sanctions that hit the country.
A Minister has suggested that onions are imported by air rather than by sea transport. To save time for deliveries and restocking and to bring prices down faster.
