New REVERSO 2.0 fans by Interko enable further operational cost reduction
Interko, one of the global leaders in the design, manufacture, and installation of innovative fresh fruit ripening rooms, has launched a cooler that further cuts energy and labour costs for ripeners at a time when prices around the world remain extremely high.
The new cooler enables achieving high-quality, low-cost fresh fruit ripening. The redesigned technology features an upgrade to Interko’s exclusive REVERSO reversible fans, known for their full user-controllability and efficient air-movement technology.
Now, the REVERSO 2.0 fans are even more efficient. Interko ensures that they will reduce operational costs by a further 20% for ripeners.
The company is already installing the new cooling system in its Ultimo ripening rooms for bananas. Later, Interko will release the upgrade for Axesso and Optimo exotic fruit ripening rooms.
According to Chris Maat, Managing Director/Partner, running at full speed, their new REVERSO 2.0 fans use as little as 80 watts of electricity per pallet, which is 20% more energy efficient compared with the previous version. Considering today’s high energy prices, customers will achieve a return on investment very quickly.
Maat added that their revamped cooler is made of stainless steel and PVC to withstand the possible corrosion due to the high humidity and condensation levels in a ripening room. They have also added a hinge to the fan drip tray to make cleaning easier. Moreover, there is a new motor, ducts, and rings.
Other innovations that reduce costs
In 2022, Interko has been focusing on raising efficiency and reducing the use of raw materials, in order to cut costs for its customers.
At the end of the year, the Dutch company launched a ripening control system equipped with a fail-safe mode, branded Ripe Pilot. The sensor-based program helps operators to go one step further in monitoring, automating, and tracing their ripening process, and comes pre-fitted in or retrofitted to Interko’s Optimo, Axesso, Ultimo, and Mobilo ripening rooms.
Maat said that Ripe Pilot is a game-changer for ripeners. It is easy to use, records lots of data, and provides greater flexibility and responsiveness than other controllers on the market.
