This is the forecast of the General Chairman of the Turkish Chambers of Agriculture Union. During the 2016-2017 season, an increase of 2.2% is expected in vegetable production to reach 30 million tonnes while fruit production is expected to reach a record of 18.9 million tonnes, with 6.3 percent increase.
He added that the output of Turkish fruits and vegetables has increased steadily since 2010.
By cons, grain production, which reached a record of 38.6 million tonnes last season expected to fall by approximately 3 million tonnes.
Similarly, hazelnut production would be only 420 000 tonnes, with a significant drop of 35 percent this year.
