A new logistic center for perishable products

Kenya is going to be equipped with a new logistic center which will facilitate expeditions of Nairobi airport.
A new logistic center will be set up on the airport of Nairobi representing an investment of £11 million to provide a state-of-the-art handling facility with direct airside access.
The new facility will include 12,351 square meters of warehousing with 11 truck docks and place of storage.
The perishables handling area will be divided into separate temperature zones to cater for the varying needs of different commodities. Shippers, agents and regulatory staff will also have access to a dedicated 1,000 sq m perishables inspection and re-packing area.
The Jomo Kenyatta International airport (JKIA) of Nairobi has the second biggest freight flow in Africa, with more than 290 000 tons in 2009 (in increase of 5 % over the previous year).
