Chiquita and Fyffes revise the terms of their merger

The merger amounting to U.S. $ 1 billion between the two companies is in process of re-examination.
The initial conditions of the agreement are being amended to comply with European regulations on corporate concentration. But the two companies continue to believe that the merger will be completed as planned this year.
The new entity will be called ChiquitaFyffes and will be listed on the New York Stock Exchange but domiciled in Ireland, the figure of annual turnover is estimated at U.S. $ 4.6 billion (€ 3.3 billion). The entity ChiquitaFyffes will be present in more than 70 countries and employs approximately 32,000 people worldwide and represent 18.7% of world banana trade as well as a significant presence in the global market of melons and pineapple.
