Morrisson focuses on proximity and freshness
MD
British chain Morrison has focused on proximity and freshness to boost sales.
Morrison has announced plans to open more than 50 stores in 2013. A few weeks ago Morrison had declared its intention to open 20 stores by the end of the year as the chain wants to move forward and expand its projects. It aims to catch up with its competitors Sainsbury and Tesco, which have a number of local stores in operation, and is attempting to halt the decline in sales.
Another aspect of its strategy is to build "stores of the future." - supermarkets that offer a wide range of "fresh" and innovative products. They have 450 fruits and vegetables available with high-tech cold mist for optimum freshness.
