Mango exports from Bahia, Brazil, to the U.S. will begin on July 1, 2025, during the usual harvest season in Brazil’s Northeast. Ahead of this, Bahia’s Agricultural Defense Agency (Adab) is warning producers to strengthen pest control, especially against fruit flies.
A technical meeting will be held on June 29 in Petrolina to guide exporters, producers, and treatment plant managers. The session will cover pest control rules, tools available, and critical risks flagged by U.S. authorities like APHIS. Adab's goal is to help registered orchards meet U.S. import standards and reduce fruit fly populations.

The U.S. is the main market for mangoes from Bahia. It benefits from an “export window” when global mango supply is lower, especially in Ecuador. In 2024, the São Francisco Valley became a leading fruit export region, with mango as its top product. This region now accounts for around 95% of all mango exports from Brazil.
