Grape exports are expected to exceed those of the previous year.
A complicated campaign but which could end with a record of grape exports. Exports to Europe increased by 19% while those to other markets weakened.
As of February 27, 2019, grape exports totaled 52 913 tonnes according to data from APEDA, recalling that the same day last year the volume was only 44 332 tonnes.
These volumes at the end of February consolidate forecasts for a record year. From April 2018 to March 2019, a volume 11% higher is forecast compared to the volume exported during the previous period.
This campaign is complicated and all in contrast. Grape exports to the European Union increased by 19% compared to the previous season but exports to other markets (Russia, Sri Lanka) weakened. In addition, demand from the domestic market was lower than expected.
