Continuous rise in FLANDRIA pepper production

Sustained demand for peppers of FLANDRIA quality have increased cultivated areas and production.
Significant growth in effect for the cultivation of FLANDRIA pepper: 79 hectares were dedicated to him in 2000 for a harvest of 14 407 tons, in 2010 surfaces totaled 95 hectares and the production was 27 840 tons. The growth continues.
The 2 largest producer cooperatives, BelOrta and Veiling Hoogstraten, predict together a production of 39,950 tons in 2014. This offer brings together Belgian and Dutch producers, members of two cooperatives. The red pepper is far the largest segment and represents only 22 000 tons, followed by green pepper with 8,000 tons, and yellow with 7,800 tons and finally the orange pepper with 1,350 tons.
Peppers are an important asset of FLANDRIA supply. Peppers are available in bulk (plastic or cardboard), but also in different packaging smaller as the well-known 3 or 4 colors but also trays and other packaging.
