Crops of basic fruit in 2007 and forecast of 2008 for the province of Mendoza

IDR (Institute of Rural Development) in Argentina published the report of the crops of plum for 2007 in the province of Mendoza. For industrial plum the crops were collected at the level of 110.711 tons when earlier forecasts predicted 85-90.000 tons. The prediction for 2008 harvest is on the level of 100.551 tons. As refers to plum destined to consumption, the crop in 2007 was 36.300 tons and forecast for 2008 about 28.563 tons what gives an average of 8,5 tons per hectare.
Regarding pears, this year crop amounts to 110.856 tons and the prediction for next year is 105.278 tons. Crop of apples reached level of almost 100.000 tons and the decline in crop in 2008 is predicted to 69.121 tons.
