45th anniversary of Rungis

The wholesale market was transferred to the center of Paris to its new site of Rungis in 1969.
Called the "move of the century", the transfer of central covered market from Paris to Rungis took place from 27 February to 3 March 1969. They are about 30 000 people, 1000 wholesale companies, 10 000 m3 of material, 5,000 tons of goods and 1,500 trucks which took to the road.
First of all the sector of Flowers on February 27 with nearly 10,000 parcels of flowers and plants, then the next day Fruits and Vegetables sector with more than 2,000 tons of goods, then B.E.C. (Butter Eggs Cheese) with 1,500 tons of products and finally the seafood with 300 tons of fish left the Parisian covered market last.
The Rungis Market has been open, at a fixed date, on Monday, March 3, 1969 which was the first market day for flowers, other sectors have begun on Tuesday, March 4, 1969.
